Philadelphia, PA June
11, 2009 Northern Home for Children celebrates the dedication
of the Harry and Jeanette Weinberg Residence Hall and
Little Friends Early Learning Center, sponsored by Wawa,
Inc. The homeless young mothers and their children in
our Generations II program will reside in Weinberg Hall,
which is adjacent to the Caroline Alexander Buck residence
Hall housing mothers and babies in our Generations I
program.
The goal of this program and Generations I is to provide
these young mothers and their babies, with a safe, comfortable,
and home-like atmosphere, where they will learn the
independent living skills needed to be productive adults
in society and good parents to the next generation.
The social, emotional and academic needs of the children
(both mothers and babies) will be met and nurtured.
Both Generations I and II now have state of the art
daycare and early learning facilities and curricula
for the children residing in the programs.
In addition to the Harry and Jeanette Weinberg Foundation
and Wawa Inc.; special thanks to Christine Decker of
Amenity Rentals Inc., the Kurtz Family Foundation, Andi
Zuckerman, Lisa Phillips and the students of Philadelphia
University for their design, expertise, donations and
support for this wonderful new residence hall and early
learning center. |
