Human Resource Officer

Summary: Under the supervision of the Director of Human Resources, the HR Officer assumes responsibility for on-going administrative and human resources support which includes performing various payroll related functions including preparing the bi-weekly payroll, making adjustments and creating reports; responding to employee questions as well as facilitating all payroll information to staff.

The HR Officer oversees recruitment of staff, including tracking resumes, representing the agency at job fairs, screening/setting up interviews, and responding to applicants.

The HR Officer carries out responsibilities in the following functional areas: Human Resources Information Systems (HRIS), benefits, unemployment, FMLA and Worker’s Compensation administration and new hire orientation.

The HR Officer also works closely with the Director of Human Resources on monitoring reporting deadlines, special projects and assignments.

Education: Bachelor’s degree in human resources or related field required.

Experience:

  • Minimum of two (2) years general human resource experience.
  • Data entry experience on HR databases and payroll systems.
  • ADP and Report Smith experience desirable

Special Skills:

  • Proficient computer skills and knowledge of Microsoft Office applications.
  • Excellent organizational, problem-solving and interpersonal skills.
  • Able to exhibit high level of confidentiality.
  • Ability to prioritize and meet multiple deadlines.
  • Effective oral and written communication skills.

Other Requirements:

  • Prior knowledge of principles and practices related to human resources
