Designed
to avert hospitalization of children who either fail to attend
school or who present disturbing behavior when there, this
program administers a menu of psychological and behavioral
services to decrease problematic behavior and to promote a
child’s self-sufficiency both in the family and at school.
Outpatient Services
Our Outpatient Program works towards treating and resolving
issues that are unhealthy for all family members. Education
and rehabilitation, together with individual, family and group
therapies promote self-awareness and social and emotional
well-being.
After School Partial Hospital Program
Our After School Partial Hospital Program is an interventive,
non-residential, behavior-based program for socially or emotionally
troubled youth. Structured activities, individual counseling,
group therapies, academic enrichment and participation in
community sports and recreational activities foster and support
self-understanding and responsible social interaction. The
program takes place on the Northern Home for Children campus
and utilizes the various amenities the campus offers including
the gymnasium, computer lab, activity center, Connell ball
field, and in-ground swimming pool. During the summer months,
the program becomes a summer camp program for this population
of youth.
Behavioral Health Rehabilitation Services (BHRS)
- Wrap Around Program
Our BHRS Wrap Around Program offers a high level mental
health intervention for children struggling with mental
or social-emotional issues in their home, school or community
settings. This program utilizes a team approach involving
intense individual and family therapy and a behavioral systems
approach to educate and rehabilitate the child and his/her
family.
- School Based Behavioral Health (SBBH)
SBBH services are designed to support children whose emotions
and behaviors make it difficult for them to function in
the normal school setting. Services are provided in selected
schools in the Philadelphia School District by a team of
trained mental health professionals. School-based teams
focus on the whole child, including the school staff and
family. Individual counseling, group therapy, classroom
support and behavior modification are all part of the treatment
process to help children develop their ability to succeed
in school and in life.
